Diocesan Relief Services Department

The Diocesan Relief Services was launched by the Bishop on 14 May, 2020 following the emergence of numerous challenges of flooding and the COVID 19 pandemic which was directly affecting the welfare of Christians and the Church in the Anglican Diocese of Bondo (Bondo and Rarieda Sub Counties).  The Committee led by the Lord Bishop as Patron is Chaired by Canon Elly Wanyonyi Osiemo and comprises of other 8 members Namely: 1. Canon Justice Onyango Otieno 2. Walter Winja 3. Henry Airo 4. Jane Opondo 5. Capt. Dorothy Ochieng 6. Lorna Oyier 7. Paul Gwela 8. Bob Ong’owo Diocesan Relief Services Committee Through the Department many families have been reached with donations from individual Christians and other development partners. Distribution of donations to families Distribution of donations to needy families ADS Nyanza led by the Executive Director Mr. Sam Omondi donated food items, transport and staff to assist in the distribution to families in the areas affected by §oods Usigu Archdeaconry in Imbo being the worst hit. Synod Plaza – Progress

The Plaza construction is at advanced stage with the walling ongoing. We intend to mobilize financial resources to ensure the building is completed. We intend to have a grand fundraiser in 14 June,2020 to enable us complete the structure for occupation. We have also received requests from potential clients and still seek more for the remaining spaces. Ordinations were held on 29th December,2019 with six candidates presented before the Bishop and  congregation to be admitted to various offices. The Bishop in his sermon challenged Christians to embrace and support the clergy in their ministry for the betterment the Church. The Bishop further challenged the clergy to take up their role as shepherds assigned by God.

Bishop’s Luncheon 2019

The Bishop’s Luncheon was held on 26th December,2019 at Bishop’s residence in Bwaja The occasion was graced by the former Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga accompanied by Mama Ida Odinga and Ms. Rosemary Odinga among other leaders from the region including Hon. Ken Obura CAS East Africa, Siaya County DG H.E Dr. James Okumbe and Hon. Partnership and linkages

The Anglican Diocese of Bondo has recently established a formal link with the Diocese of Sheffield in the Church of England. The signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Diocese of Bondo and the Diocese of Sheffield. This partnership seeks to strengthen evangelism and discipleship in the Christian Communities of both Dioceses and for solidarity in the cause of Christ as part of a global church. Among other commitments the two Dioceses do hope to achieve a lasting relationship which will see both having links between parishes, schools and all other departments in the Church and institutions. The Rt. Rev’d Dr. Pete Wilcox paid ¦ve days visit to the Diocese of Bondo in order to seal this partnership agreement. This was culminated by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Dioceses on 28 February,2019. This partnership was welcomed and wholly accepted by the Diocesan Synod.

Thanksgiving service on 23rd September 2018

The Thanksgiving service took place on Sunday 23rd September 2018. The Chief guest was  H.E. Hon Moody Awori, the former Vice President of Kenya H.E. September 2018 Major Events

Bishop’s Luncheon and fundraising on 15th September, 2018 at ACK Church House Compound, Sinapanga (Diocesan Headquarters) Diocesan Thanksgiving service on 23rd September 2018, Hon Dr. Moody Awori, the former Vice President of Kenya as Chief Guest. Sustainability of our Diocese has remained our top agenda among other Episcopal responsibilities. Therefore, completion of the Plaza is our priority, a project which when accomplished will help the church mitigate the deficit in her budget and also reducing the financial burden on Christians. Synod Plaza under construction Several institutions have shown great interest in the building giving us the assurance that once completed the Diocese will be in a position to meet all its obligations with minimal strains. In order to achieve this mobilization of funds is underway. The Bishop’s Luncheon cum fundraising took place on 15th September, 2018 at ACK Church House Compound, Sinapanga (Diocesan Headquarters) an occasion where we raised funds in preparations for our Thanksgiving service on 23rd September 2018 with H.E. Hon Moody Awori, the former Vice President of Kenya as Chief Guest. Be part of us. Walk with us. Pray with us and share with us God’s blessings for the glory of His name.
