The Assistant Bishop

The Rt. Rev’d Dr. Emilly Onyango was consecrated as Assistant Bishop in the Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Bondo on the 27th of March 2021, at the St. Michael’s and All Angels Cathedral in Bondo.

The Consecration of the assistant of Bondo was preceded by retreat led by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Nairobi; The Rt. Rev’d Joel Waweru.

The Duties of the Assistant Bishop Are;

  • Training and continuous training of clergy in the Diocese
  • Continuous training of lay readers in the Diocese including lay readers, Youth leaders, women leaders, KAMA and Parish Council.
  • Linkages with other potential partners both locally and internationally
  • Women ministry in the Church
  • Gender issues including but not limited to:

– Boy and Girl Child empowerment

– Gender based violence
