ACK Diocese of Bondo @25 The Diocese of Bondo is glad to mark Silver Jubilee Celebrations on 4th May 2025. This time has been set aside to give thanks for God’s Divine mercy as a diocese having existed for 25 years since the Consecration and Enthronement of the 1st Diocesan Bishop, on 20th February, 2000. Among the key elements for celebrating this occasion will be but not limited to the following; 1. Marking the 25th Anniversary Celebrating our achievements and recognizing our challenges for the last 25years. The climax of the celebration will incorporate Individual Christians coming to give thanks for their life and that which the Lord has done in their lives including; Celebrating their year of birth; Life of their departed souls; Blessings and gifts of marriage; Achievements in life; and people rededicating themselves and their lives to the service of God having overcome specific tragedy or passed through different life experiences. 2. Appreciate the good things the Lord has given unto us Appreciate the good things the Lord has given unto us, the achievements and milestones as a diocese just to mention but a few; Revival of the mission activities in the diocese which has helped in the establishment of a mission center at Mageta Island and the Dr. John Ludwig Krapf Centre at Bishop Okullu College-Kokise. The building of ACK Trinity Church House (Synod Plaza) which has changed Bondo Town to the glory of God.The construction of a 32 seater mission boat that is currently at Usenge Beach to help in marine services. The purchase of Cathedral land and the commencement of the New Cathedral building Construction which is on course. Dr. John Ludwig Krapf Mission Boat.

The Diocese on 17th September. 2024 launched a 32 seater vessel stationed at Usenge beach The most luxurious and fastest boat is set to positively influence mission activities in mageta island a missionary area that serves the christians of St. Paul’s Parish, Mageta The vessel will also offer transport services in Lake Victoria as a means of responding to the needs of communities in the islands areas.

Mothers Union Visit to the New Cathedral Site

The Mothers Union leadership led by the President Dr. Janepher Kodia stepped out onbehalf of the the mothers union department and the entire diocese to commit the work progress in prayer. The site visit comes amid the massive funds mobilization exercise across the diocese towards the forthcoming fundraiser on 6th October,2024. The team sent warm greetings to the Mothers Union of the Diocese of Sheffield for their continued prayers and support towards the project. DIOCESAN BISHOP’S PATORAL VISIT TO THE USA IN FEBRUARY 2024.

The Diocese has overtime collaborated with like-minded, individuals, friends and partners to strengthen mission and evangelism  to support the Church both spiritually  and socially. In February 2024 the Rt.Rev’d. Prof. David Kodia,PhD embarked on a month’s mission to the USA . This various engagements during the trip revealed the different approaches for a dynamic ministry. DIOCESAN LINKS

Diocese of Sheffield. We officially partnered with the Diocese of  Sheffield in the United Kingdom in 2019. The Rt. Rev’d. Dr. Pete Wilcox was present at a Diocesan Synod held on 28th February, 2019 that affirmed the memorandum during his four days visit to the Diocese. The two dioceses have closely worked together to strengthen the partnership aided by our commonality. A team led by the Rt. Rev’d. Sophie Jelly, the Assistant Bishop of  Sheffield  & Bishop of Doncaster visited with the Diocese of Bondo between April 27th and May 3rd 2023 to continually grow the faith, network and share alternative ways of engaging in ministry. A return visit was thereafter made by the Diocese of Bondo between 10th to 18th July,  2023. The Rt. Rev’d. Prof. David Kodia in company of three delegates traveled to the United Kingdom for an exchange program to learn-unlearn-relearn.

BISHOP’S LUNCHEON TOWARDS THE COMPLETION OF THE SYNOD PLAZA ON 26TH DECEMBER, 2022.

The luncheon attracted a number of congregants among them Clergy serving in and out of the Diocese, Lay Synod members, invited guests, and friends of the Diocese. The occasion comes just a day after faithfuls celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Congregants purposed to gather, share a meal, and also present their thanksgiving gifts to aid in the completion of the synod plaza building ahead of its opening early in the year 2023. The proceeds of the luncheon will majorly focus on the installation of electricity and lifts . The Diocese continues to solicit funds till the tail end of construction work. It is our divine prayer that we will be able to realize our target for the opening of this ultra-modern commercial property in Bondo town.

DIOCESAN RELIEF PROGRAM ON FRIDAY 25TH NOVEMBER, 2022.

The relief exercise kicked off with a Clergy consultative meeting that sought to establish the criteria for distribution of relief food to the needy families within the Diocese of Bondo, the action seeks to address the dire economic situation currently being witnessed in Rarieda and Bondo Sub counties bordering the Diocese. The program was launched by the Rt. Rev’d. Prof. David H. Kodia joined by Canon Justice (Rtd) Walter Onyango Otieno a member of the Diocesan Relief Services Committee.

CONSECRATION OF ASSISTANT BISHOP IN THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF KENYA,

DIOCESE OF BONDO, HELD ON SATURDAY 27TH MARCH, 2021 The Consecration of the assistant of Bondo was preceded by retreat led by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Nairobi; The Rt. Rev’d Joel Waweru. The Retreat commenced on Wednesday 24 -26 March, 2020 with rehearsals at St. Michael and All Angels Cathedral Bondo on 26 March,2022. The Service was led by the Rt. Rev’d George Mechumo, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Bungoma. The House of Bishops meeting held on 11 March,2021 unanimously endorsed the appointment of the Assistant Bishop and the consequent consecration. The assistant Bishop will be seconded to St. Paul’s University where she is a senior lecturer. The duties of the Assistant Bishop‘s will be: Training and continuous training of clergy in the Diocese Continuous training of lay readers in the Diocese including lay readers, Youth leaders, women leaders, KAMA and Parish Council. Linkages with other potential partners both locally and internationally Women ministry in the Church Gender issues including but not limited to: – Boy and Girl Child empowerment Church – Gender based violence The Rt. Rev’d Dr. Emilly Onyango is among the few women who in the recent days have been appointed to senior positions in the Anglican Church. Bishop Dr. Onyango is among the longest serving female clergy and also Canon of the Church in the Diocese of Bondo. This Consecration is a defining moment for the Anglican Diocese of Bondo as barriers in leadership have been broken having appointed the first female Bishop in the Anglican Church of Kenya. In her acceptance speech the Rt. Rev’d Dr. Emilly highlighted the challenges she faced at ordination, being a young single lady many  never saw her potential of raising a family. The Family The history lecturer believes in making history and being pat of history. In her presentation at the Provincial Clergy conference held at Kabarak University she foretold of the need of having a “purple blouse” in the house of Bishop’s.
